• PostgreSQL licensed under Berkeley style license, originally by Berkeley University
• Regular requests for license change (to GPL)
• Reasons for not changing:
  • Recognition of project history
  • Some developers want closed source versions
  • Contributors knowingly contribute under Berkeley. Code can (and sometimes is) licensed under other models
  • Cannot contact all authors to waive license
  • Ain't broke, don't fix it
